NASA CTB Redesign

NASA Cargo Transfer Bag Concept Redesign
A cargo transfer bag (CTB) is a soft goods bag used for the transport of goods and equipment being sent to the International Space Station (ISS). These bags give the crew members a place to store and locate specific items when on station. Our design challenge for these concept bags were to improve the flaws of the current CTB’s and prepare a full scale version of what potential bags could look like on future mission such as Gateway. My final design focused on the weight of the CTB, accessibility for the user, and making it more efficient for autonomous machines to handle. The bag when finished weight 2.14 lbs, effectively cutting the current weight in half, and included larger areas of teflon for greater visibility and a mechanical connection method for possible robots to grab onto easily.
